The Planet’s Favourite Alternative to Bubble Wrap

The Planet’s Favourite Alternative to Bubble Wrap

Cherese Duffield

Bubble wrap has been bringing joy to its customers since the 1960s, with its modern-day primary purpose being to protect fragile goods whilst in transit. It’s typically produced to be transparent, it’s cheap, and it works well to protect items in the mail.

Whilst bubble wrap was seen as a breakthrough in the packaging industry, and quickly became the most well-known form of protective packaging around the world, it can be rather damaging to the environment, due to the fact that is it made from plastic materials that are not biodegradable.

Today, plastic packaging is frowned upon - and for many good reasons. While plastic was originally seen as a ground-breaking material when it was first synthesised (it was easy to mass-produce, long lasting, versatile, etc.) in more recent years, the environmental effects of mass plastic usage has gathered massive media attention and has been felt by communities around the globe.

The problem with plastic packaging is that there’s so much of it, and it can take up to 1,000 years to degrade naturally. Plastic ends up in our oceans, in rivers and lakes and ultimately causes damage to our planet’s natural environments.

A large portion of this damaging plastic waste is single-use plastic. In fact, one of the largest contributors to why plastic is so bad for the environment is because we often don’t recycle and reuse enough of it.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, and there are ways that we can take action to do good for our planet by using smarter (non-plastic) alternatives that are equally as effective, protective and cost-conscious.

By turning to more eco-friendly packaging options that are good alternatives to bubble wrap, we can cut down on a significant portion of plastic waste.

Our Honeycomb Rolls serve the perfect environmentally-friendly packaging alternative to bubble wrap.

Created in an elegant white or brown, finish with a kraft backing.  This paper stock is slightly thicker, offering added protection to your packaging goods and reassuring your customers that their purchase will be received in pristine condition.

Due to its cushioning, the honeycomb paper structure is a preferred option among shippers as it offers great protection. At the same time, it is flexible enough to wrap multiple items or different shapes and sizes.

100% biodegradable and Eco-friendly and already stretched, we supply our Honeycomb ready rolls with interleaved white tissue paper – with branded tissue paper options available for those who want to create a next-level experience for their customers.

If you work in retail, one of the biggest positive impacts that you can make on the environment is by finding new ways to limiting the use of plastic in your product packaging and shipping materials.

Making these changes don’t have to be costly or difficult, when you have the right packaging supplier at hand.
